Brrr!! What a change! First day that really felt like Winter, however, by late morning the sun shone through, and made for a pleasant day. We had a brief distant view of a Bittern in flight, a Bewick’s Swan made an appearance, had a wash, then flew West. One Egyptian Goose feeding with the good numbers of Greylag, Canada and Brent. c6,500 Wigeon and a 1,000+ Teal around the Reserve, also a few Shoveler, Pintail, Shelduck and Mallard. Usual good sightings of Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, Peregrine and Kestrel. From Sharfleet viewing screen a few waders included Avocet, Ringed-plover, Dunlin, Turnstone, Redshank, Grey Plover and Black-tailed Godwit, and on the fields not so many Golden Plover c200, and about 150 Curlew. Nice to see a few Stonechat, and Bearded Tit for some lucky folks !

Once again a smashing day.
