My husband and I stayed here in the Vallenus shepherds hut from Fri to Sun. This place is a perfect, peaceful paradise. Georgina and Gareth who run the place are incredibly welcoming and thought of everything to make our stay special. There are chairs and a fire pit outside overlooking the reserve with a perfect view of the tree where the Owls are nesting. Inside there is a comfortable king sized bed, a place to wash up, a kettle and camp stove and an en-suite bathroom complete with beautiful products. There is access to an outdoor kitchen and the barn. More importantly there is the reserve which has a fantastic array of birds to watch and great walk depending on how much exercise you want. This is a perfect place to relax and unwind and highly recommended.

I was treated to an overnight stay from colleagues for my birthday and have to say it really did exceed my expectations of a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to escape their busy lives for some peace and tranquility. Everything was just perfect; from a beautiful, immaculate, cosy little hut, welcome received from our hosts to our wonderful evening meal and breathtaking views across the island. Cannot wait for our return. X

We stayed in the Vanellus hut for a few nights, very reasonable with a big window and skylight giving you a beautiful view of the reserve when you wake up. Cosy and quirky accommodation with everything you could possibly need (fire pit, little kitchen area, en suite bathroom). The owners were really lovely and went out of their way to ensure our stay was lovely (including sloe gin and chocolate brownies when we said we were heading on a walk to the furthest hide which has a little hamper with blankets and guest book, such a nice touch!). The reserve itself was lovely, lots of amazing birds and wildlife and a few cheeky cows that did make driving down the path to the reserve a bit of an adventure! The reserve is lovely, but I'd highly recommend staying if you can!

Our stay at Little Owl was fantastic - the hosts were so friendly and out Shepard Hut wasbrilliantly kitted out, they really did put the glam into glamping.

Myself, my husband and my four year old stayed in Vanellus and had a wonderful weekend. The cabin had everything we could require and it was beautifully decorated. There were some really lovely extra touches and for the price it was outstanding value for money. The hosts were really
welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough to make the stay amazing. Obviously the main reason for the stay was the location which didn't disappoint, we had a wonderful evening meal watching the wildlife. Highly highly recommended!

We came to the reserve to stay and to walk. We booked one of the huts and it was fantastic to stay there. Great nature views and lots of birds and wildlife. We walked to the furthest hide what is about 5 km and walked back. Beautiful nature, escape from daily life and it's so peaceful.The owners are very friendly and helpful.

We had 2 nights in Vanellus shepards hut..it was so peaceful and quiet. The fantastic walks to all the hides. The birds were just breath taking...The hosts were lovely and communicated well and during our stay..

I had the most serene, calm and relaxing stay. The surroundings could not be more beautiful, almost making you forget that you're only an hours drive from London. Gareth & Georgina were great hosts who went beyond their call to make sure I had everything I needed and after that I was left to my own which was exactly what I'd been looking for. I already miss it! I will be going back for sure :)
