Testimonials
Method & Ecover “We spent four idyllic days at Elmley and couldn’t have asked for a better place to re-connect to nature. Georgina was very flexible, we had lots of people coming and going and she helped us organise all the moving parts. Gareth was more than happy to talk us through all the wildlife living in Elmley, helping us to feel grounded and comfortable in our surroundings. It was a stunning location to hold an off-site, we hope to return soon!”
Wellbeing day for 50 guests - high end active wear brand “We held a magical day retreat out of London and the people at Elmley ensured our event was seamless from start to finish. The space is beautiful and the people are exceptionally hospitable. We loved exploring the reserve, learning from Gareth about the surrounding nature and wildlife, and eating the most delicious vegan lunch in the barn. The Elmley Nature Reserve is remarkable. Thank you!”
Company Strategy Off-site Meeting 3 day – Record label & Concert Promoter “It honestly couldn’t have been more of a success from my point of view.
The reserve, of course, is unique and absolutely stunning. In addition the accommodation was absolutely wonderful (many in the team said it was the nicest rooms/houses they'd ever stayed in), and the delicious food and the service was all just perfectly pitched from our perspective. Before and during our stay you and your team were the perfect balance for me between informal and incredibly helpful and proactive. Please pass my thanks on to all of them, especially River.
The sessions in the cottage worked brilliantly. Perhaps for a more formal / corporate group it might have felt a bit DIY but for us it really couldn't have been better: so much nicer for us than a stuffy boardroom, and the mix of the cool decor and the remarkable natural view was brilliant and very inspiring. And the ability to switch it around for Tuesday's less formal session (which your guys were very helpful with) was great.
The Yoga was great, the candle making was a big hit and lots of fun (and really special doing it in the barn as the sun went down).
I really achieved all the things I had set out to (spend time together somewhere special, and inform / stimulate / inspire the team for the months ahead), so am absolutely thrilled.
Thanks again, and congratulations on creating such a special environment.”
Team Off-site Meeting 3 day – Global Healthcare Organisation Context“We are a virtual team consisting of fourteen people working in seven different European countries. Our remit is to support regional and global projects for one of the largest organisations in the world. We are constantly in touch with each other during the week and meet face to face two to three times a year. We need to get as much value as possible from our face to face meetings.
Purpose
The purpose of our meeting in Elmley was to reconnect, learn from each other’s experiences and challenge ourselves to innovate and manage change and uncertainty both for ourselves and our internal customers. We wanted to step out of traditional corporate surroundings and encourage people to switch off their smart phones, turn off their laptops and disconnect from the outside world. We wanted them to connect with each other. We also wanted to build in some time for reflection and experience working in a natural environment.
Results
We ran our meeting in mid-September 2019 and were blessed with good weather. This meant that we were able to use all that Elmley has to offer. For a small group we had access to a lot of space. The barn is a huge, flexible open space which allowed us to set up and run very different activities one after each other. Outside the barn is an open area which we used for activities and al fresco meals. The two farmhouses provided very comfortable accommodation and also convivial space for meals and small conversations. The nature reserve provided an inspiring place for walking and reflection. Three of us stayed out on the marsh in shepherd huts which was a talking point in itself.
From the moment people arrived they seemed to breathe out and slow down. We noticed relaxed and open conversations and everyone unstiffened in the beautiful surroundings. People genuinely disconnected from the net and connected with each other.
The food and drink was local, seasonal and delicious and the chef took into account the dietary requirements of the team. No-one felt left out.
Gareth and Georgina who own the farm contributed to the meeting and helped us understand what Elmley was about. The staff on-site were friendly, sensitive to our requirements and very supportive. Even the resident animals - both wild and domestic - joined in.
We may not have covered everything we had hoped for in our off-site but that was because the conversations we had were involved, passionate and not constrained by a ticking clock. Feedback from the team was universally positive and it will be a challenge to recreate the magic of Elmley elsewhere.”
Community and School Hire
