Hares, owls, birds of prey and wading birds can be seen from each hut, all of which are especially beautiful to watch in the dawn mist or at sunset.
Little Owl hut overlooks a barn owl box in a nearby oak tree which often has owlets (youngsters) in. In fact, all the huts look out onto the reeds and long grass that the barn owl glides over each dusk –it is magical to watch every time!
In the winter months the sky can be filled with tens of thousands of wildfowl, which make an unforgettable sight of cloud-like murmurations and flocks in formation.
Peace and quiet
With beautiful marsh landscape and huge atmospheric skies, Elmley is a special place for an escape and to rejuvenate. Guests can enjoy long, quiet walks across the rugged countryside, and get back to nature by cooking on the wood burning stove.
We’re off grid so enjoy the digital detox and cosy up with some good books next to the fire.
To help you completely relax, we can arrange wonderful massages and deliver home cooked suppers to your hut.
Romantic getaways
The wonderfully cosy and private shepherd’s huts are just right for spending some quality time together. Elmley at night is magical, and you can enjoy the peace, stargazing with a glass of fizz by the firepits, or snuggle up in the comfy beds, enjoying the quiet time together away from wifi and screens.
In the day, visit Whitstable for oysters and sea side strolls or explore some of our wonderful local pubs.
For the family
Let the children re-wild at Elmley. There are thousands of acres of countryside to explore, and plenty of wildlife to see, along with our chickens, ducks and tractors! Pond-dipping trips and in bad weather, we have a huge Kentish barn.
In the Summer extra accommodation for families and groups is available in our beautiful canvas bell tents.
We’re well set-up for families – baby and child equipment is available on request – and we can deliver home cooked meals to your hut, giving you the freedom of self-catering without having to cook!
Elmley is also popular with new parents and for baby moons – with comfortable beds, peace and quiet, massages for frazzled parents and pregnant ladies.
