Sheppey
15 minutes drive
On the island, all the beaches have Blue Flags. Our favourites are:
- Minster Leas, a long sand and shingle beach – the promenade is a lovely spot for a stroll but we prefer to wander past the cute coloured beach huts, and tuck up under the cliffs with the place to ourselves;
- Shellness – a beach made entirely of shells! This is a beautiful wild and remote beach which runs onto the Swale National Nature Reserve.

Whitstable
25 minutes drive
Of course don’t forget Whitstable for oysters! You can happily spend a day pottering through this gorgeous seaside town, collecting goodies in its lovely independent boutiques and strolling along the seafront.Book ahead and nab a table at the award winning The Sportsman.

Beach life

Kent has the longest coastline of any county in Britain, including Cornwall and Devon put together! Visit huge sandy beaches like the beautiful Botany Bay, surf at Joss bay, or discover the Roman fort at Reculver.

Kent Downs
15 minutes drive
This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty runs from the White Cliffs at Dover to the Surrey Border. The North Downs Way follows the highest point of the chalk ridge and is recommended for beautiful walks, views, wildlife as well as picturesque farming villages many with old fashioned country pubs.

Leeds Castle
25 minutes drive
'The Loveliest Castle in the World’ is how Leeds Castle describes itself, and the beautiful turrets rising majestically from the moat surrounded by parkland and gardens doesn’t disappoint. Along with the Royal castle there are plenty of unique attractions and activities for all the family.

Faversham
25 minute drive
Faversham sit just across the water from us, it has a buzzing market three times a week, and is a fantastic place to shop for antiques, arts and food. Don’t miss the incredible Macknades, a farm shop and food hall to stock up on local food and drink.

Margate
45 minutes drive
This traditional seaside town has had a revival recently helped along by the Turner Contemporary Gallery which looks across the vast sandy bay. Explore the old town’s cobbled streets and art galleries or have a rollercoaster ride at the newly re-opened Dreamland.

Canterbury
40 minutes drive
The magnificent cathedral sits in the middles of the beautiful medieval city. Have fun exploring its streets, boutiques, independent cafes and fantastic restaurants.
