John and John’s sightings – 19th Oct

Lovely to see the ditches and rills holding water after the recent rainfall and nice to have some wet mud under foot, lets hope it does not dry out !. Lapwing starting to rise from the Marsh in big groups along with good numbers of Curlew and a mobile group of 500 + Golden Plover, four Wheatear still about, Stonechat moving in where the Whincat left, Wildfowl numbers about the same except Teal which is probably up to 2,500, Starling pushing 2,000, Little Grebe 12+,9 Marsh Harrier ,at least six Kestrel a few less Buzzard, one Merlin and Little Egret well represented.

Also 20+ Meadow Pipit, 12 Reed Bunting, Goldfinch, Linnet in the scores and a  more friendly group of Cows than normal.
