What a Gorgeous Hot Day!
What a gorgeous hot day! From Wellmarsh Hide we were lucky to see 3 Spotted Redshank, and one Little-Ringed Plover Those being the more unusual, but still good to see 40+ Redshank (27 young) 10+ Oystercatcher, and about 70 Avocet.
Looking out on Reserve, at least another 120 Avocet, 3 Common Tern, 25+ Shelduck, c15 Marsh Harrier, 5 Buzzard, 5 Kestrel, and two Hobby, and at least 8 Reed Warbler, 2 Sedge, and 9 Reed Bunting.
Had a look at ponds around Kingshill, very good numbers of Small Tortoiseshell, Meadow Brown, Skippers, and Small Heaths, and plenty of Damsel and Dragonflies, but of course, fully charged and on turbo zoom!!
So for us I.D. not easy, sorry!
A really good day for a ‘quiet’ time of year.
