John & John’s sightings – 11th June

A very warm day at Elmley, a large batch of young Shoveler on the entrance track and trail to the hides, good numbers of Shelduck,,Gadwall, Tuffted Duck, Lapwing, Redshanks and Oystercatchers protecting their young from the Marsh Harriers. First sight of Salisfy for the year, 50 plus Avocet, 12 Black-tailed Godwit, about 200+ young Starlings, two families of Great Crested Grebe both with two young in tow, many Little Grebe also with young , Reed Bunting, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Reed & Sedge Warbler all being very busy, good number of Cygnet’s in the reeds, many more Damselfies, Dragonfiles, Swallows and Goldfinch than previous weeks.
