Wednesday, 24th,Sept.’14.

Rather a cool and hazy start, however, after a few short showers the Sun appeared, and with a rising tide hopes were high. Things were a tad slow, but two Peregrine gave good views, and two Hobby were still zooming about, no doubt after the Swallows and Martins, who were moving through in very large numbers. Ringed Plover gave a good count (c200), and always nice to see Curlew Sandpiper (2), Little Stint (3), a few Dunlin, and Green Sandpiper (4).

Wildfowl males are starting to show their new plumage, which is good for I.D.!

There were quite a few Butterflies about, and around Wellmarsh saw at least 5 or 6 Clouded Yellows!

Dragonflies still patrolling, most of which were probably Migrant Hawkers.

Along with Marsh Harriers and Buzzards, our photogenic Merlin was once again having a rest on the usual gatepost.

So all in all not a bad day!
