John and John’s Sightings – 29th Sept

A very pleasant afternoon when the fog cleared with temperature’s pushing mid 20’s. Little Grebe and Coot both with young in all probability 3rd round, an Autumn feel with Lapwing starting to group in numbers and Teal pushing 2,000 . Plenty of Whinchat, Goldfinch and Linnet, a big influx of Meadow Pipits. Starling and Curlew building around the reserve also Wigeon, Shoveler, Pintail, Shelduck and Avocet on the Swale.
Several hundred Ringed Plover with a scattering of Dunlin, Grey Plover and Bar-tailed Godwit.
Late September and a good mix of Butterflies, a few Swallows , the odd Grass Snake and a few blue flashes of Kingfisher around.
